The Future Just Got Brighter – CA Technologies Offers $1 Million in Scholarships for the Next Generation of IT Leaders

Mainframe Academy Scholarship Winners to be Announced at SHARE Conference in San Francisco; Deadline for Applications is December 3, 2012
ISLANDIA, N.Y., November 14, 2012 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced it will award the next-generation of IT professionals up to $1 million in scholarships to attend Mainframe Academy with CA Technologies and develop their mainframe skills. The deadline to applyfor a scholarship is December 3.
Several members of the SHARE board will help select the winners from the pool of applicants who demonstrate a desire to master mainframe programming skills. Scholarships will be awarded during the SHARE Conference in San Francisco, February 3-8, 2013.
“Cross-disciplinary expertise is critical in today’s changing IT ecosystem, and the Mainframe Academy program plays an important role in preparing IT professionals for evolving IT and business environments,” said Mark Combs, senior vice president, Mainframe Strategy, CA Technologies. “Our goal with the Mainframe Academy is to ensure the next generation of IT leaders has the opportunity to develop mainframe skill sets to complement their distributed knowledge. This will help meet a need cited in our recent Mainframe as a Mainstay of the Enterprisesurvey, which showed that three-quarters of U.S. businesses believe they will face a shortage of mainframe skilled workers in the future.”
The Mainframe Academy with CA Technologies is an eight-week, vendor-agnostic immersion program that offers a blend of instructor-led classroom, virtual and self-paced learning designed to provide core skills to manage the mainframe environment. Young IT professionals enrolled in high school, undergraduate and graduate university programs, or recent graduates are eligible for the scholarship.
Mainframe Academy scholarships will be granted based on an evaluation process that will consider, among other factors, the applicant’s demonstrated academic achievement, creativity and/or vision in the use of technology. Entries will be reviewed by an expert panel selected for their knowledge and experience in the field, including representation from the SHARE board of directors.
