NEW YORK; Dec. 16, 2014 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) announced that Mediaset, Italy’s largest commercial broadcaster, is using Accenture Video Solution 4.0 in order to distribute their Infinityservice, including streaming videos on demand, to Chromecast users. This extends customer options for watching content on numerous devices and provides Mediaset with opportunities to extend Infinity’s market reach.
New enhancements to the Accenture Video Solution software, including integration withChromecast, allow users to view digital content on any compatible device, at any time. Additionally, video services operators can now insert contextual advertisements directly into videos, increasing revenue opportunities and increased reach for new services.
Traditional set top boxes and smart TVs are often proprietary in nature, resulting in limited viewing options. Devices such as Chromecast enable an over-the-top (OTT) television provider to deliver content to nearly any HDMI-enabled TV, thus significantly increasing the provider’s market opportunity. Chromecast is a simple media streaming device that plugs into the HDMI port on a TV. Accenture Video Solution now enables the streaming of video services through Chromecast for delivery of high quality content to devices and permits transfer of content to multiple devices. Operators can take advantage of this to quickly and easily deliver new services and content. As a result, consumers can view content at their convenience, often at a lower cost.
“We wanted to create dynamic, interactive relationships with our customers in order to stay competitive and gain market share,” said Chiara Tosato, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Infinity. “The enhancements to Accenture Video Solution software helped us to stream our content over the popular Chromecast device, increasing our delivery options and reaching new customers.”
The new Accenture Video Solution 4.0 also offers ad serving features that enable video services operators to include native ads that offer additional related services or promote third party products and services. Operators can deliver ads in video on demand and live streams in order to monetize video experiences across PCs, mobile devices, tablets, game consoles, IPTV and Smart TV.
“Consumers are jumping on the trend of using devices such as Chromecast to stream media to multiple devices, and carriers can use this as an opportunity to expand their offerings to attract and retain customers,” said Giorgio Canocchi, global managing director, Accenture Video Solution. “The enhancements to the Accenture Video Solution can help our clients grow profits and market share at a lower cost while providing their customers with more content and delivery choices.”
The Accenture Video Solution manages, delivers and monetizes digital video in a seamless user experience. The solution operates on managed IPTV set-top-boxes as well as unmanaged OTTV devices such as hybrid or pure IP set-top boxes, Internet-enabled TVs, tablets, smartphones and PCs. The work with Infinity was fast-tracked through Accenture’s Innovation Center in Rome, a center of technological innovation dedicated to converged and multi-channel customer experiences. The Center identifies the most innovative trends and applies them to existing solutions for telecommunications, broadcasting and media companies around the world.
