NEW YORK; Feb. 26, 2015 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has been positioned as a leader by independent analyst firm, Verdantix, in the Green Quadrant Power Utility IT Services (North America) February 2015 report, based on its capabilities and momentum in the marketplace.
The report provides a detailed fact-based comparison of 10 of the largest providers of information technology (IT) services for electric power utilities in North America.
The Verdantix Green Quadrant methodology provides buyers of specific products or services with a structured assessment of comparable offerings at a certain point in time. This includes power plant management, renewable energy generation, power generation, smart metering, outage and network management, grid asset management, communication network solutions, energy and load management, cyber security, workforce management, microgrids, customer engagement, customer energy management, and energy trading. It also analyzes market share, brand positioning, vision and strategy, commercial partnerships, organizational resources, and sustainability performance.
Accenture is positioned firmly in the leaders’ quadrant and, according to the report, stands out for its track record in delivering large-scale projects. Its strengths and differentiators are its end-to-end capabilities across the utility value chain, implementation and ongoing management of smart meter IT systems, centralized power plant management systems and bridging IT and operational technology (OT) capabilities, particularly through its joint venture with Siemens, OMNETRIC Group. Accenture’s recent acquisition of Structure is noted as further expanding the company’s capabilities in grid operations, IT/OT integration, as well as energy trading and risk management.
“Accenture is a strong performer across a whole range of capabilities and has most of its project experience with mid- and large-sized utilities. These factors will benefit utilities looking for IT support for complex systems integration projects that span multiple capability areas, as well as utilities with large distribution networks looking for grid management systems,” said Susan Clarke, energy industry analyst at Verdantix. “Multiple customer panel members highlighted that Accenture’s industry and business-process knowledge set it apart from many of the other IT service providers included in the study.”
Jack Azagury, managing director of Accenture’s utilities industry group in North America, said, “Accenture’s ranking in this report recognizes the work that our teams do on a daily basis focused on delivering tangible business outcomes for our clients, our understanding of the utilities industry and how it is evolving, and our ability to help our clients transform their businesses in response. Our ongoing investments in digital technologies, analytics, smart grid capabilities, as well as the convergence of IT and OT, enable us to deliver transformational, innovative and effective solutions to our clients.”
