Editors Highlight the Most Innovative Vendors in the Virtualization Space

RALEIGH, N.C. - May 28, 2013 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that it has been named to CRN’s 2013 Virtualization 50 list. The annual listing highlights the companies with the most innovative virtualization solutions available today.

Selected by CRN editors, the 2013 CRN Virtualization 50 recognizes the vendors that are addressing an emerging market need for the channel and offering the most innovative solutions. The list is designed to help solution providers identify and evaluate virtualization products and programs to help grow their business.

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is the only mission-critical end-to-end, open source virtualization infrastructure designed for enterprise users that is available today. Virtualization is the cornerstone of cloud computing and Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), which serves as the foundation for Red Hat’s virtualization initiatives, is a predominant hypervisor (1) in the cloud. Red Hat’s virtualization offerings are built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, a proven enterprise-ready platform and extends the same hardware compatibility for ease of integration. The Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 release, which debuted in Jan. 2012, marked a significant industry milestone, offering enterprise features, scalability and cost advantages to organizations. Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1, released in Dec. 2012, extended the platform's capabilities in the areas of storage, storage live migration, and performance.

“Solution providers have plenty of options when it comes to virtualization technology. However, understanding the diversity of vendors and their solution nuances can be incredibly daunting,” said Robert Faletra, CEO, UBM Tech Channel. “CRN’s annual list aims to cut down the noise and highlight the most innovative technology vendors that are not only delivering powerful virtualization technology, but also helping VARs capitalize on the market opportunity for such solutions.”

“Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization delivers an open alternative to proprietary solutions, and we are honored to be included in CRN’s Virtualization 50 and continue our leadership in the open virtualization market,” said Radhesh Balakrishnan, general manager, Virtualization, Red Hat. “The release of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1 accelerated our feature and performance velocity, and we are excited about increasing the number of organizations deploying RHEV to reduce costs and improve agility without prohibitive license costs.”
