Red Hat | Red Hat Announces ManageIQ Community for Open Source Cloud Management

ATLANTA – OPENSTACK SUMMIT ATLANTA 2014 – MAY 12, 2014 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the formation of the ManageIQ community, which aims to provide the industry's leading open source cloud management platform with advanced governance and automation capabilities. Red Hat will contribute software acquired from ManageIQ, Inc., which currently serves as the basis for its Red Hat CloudForms open hybrid cloud management product. In addition to its software contributions, Red Hat will also provide integration and orchestration content for lab automation. This platform and content pairing help ease the building of development and testing clouds based on OpenStack. Additional content will be provided by a rich partner ecosystem joining Red Hat in the ManageIQ community, including AutoTrader Group, Booz Allen Hamilton, and CiRBA and Chef.

The ManageIQ community is Red Hat’s latest significant contribution to the OpenStack ecosystem, and this community takes the next step in bringing together developers, service providers, system integrators, researchers and users for collaborating and driving innovation in the management of OpenStack and open hybrid clouds. In addition to being the leading corporate contributor of code to the OpenStack Grizzly, Havana and IceHouse releases, Red Hat invests heavily in a number of core technologies that complement the OpenStack ecosystem. Long-standing contributions advance the Open Daylight community for software-defined networking, along with new commitments to the Gluster and Ceph communities for scale-out, open software-defined storage,.
