Estimating Income from YouTube Videos

January 4, 2015

This video is along the same lines as the previous video, except that it goes more in-depth with regard to estimating potential income from posting YouTube videos.

The calculations are rough approximations.  The actual algorithms are proprietary.  But for ballpark income estimates, the calculations could prove useful.

Affiliate marketing is not mentioned, nor is using YouTube to generate leads.

But the speaker is a hand puppet.  (Calculations can be pretty dry, so doing something to make the discussion a little more fun helps.)  Fans of the Muppets will probably enjoy this video:

4 Strategies for Making Money on YouTube

January 4, 2015

This video by James Wedmore may be of interest to the small business owner.

Mr. Wedmore discusses four strategies for making money on YouTube.  He only recommends one (the last one).

The four strategies are:

1.  Google AdSense.  Mr. Wedmore lists several reasons why he believes that the Google AdSense program is NOT a good deal for the small business owner.

2.  Affiliate Marketing.  If you do not have a product of your own to sell, you may want to consider writing reviews for products that you use and like and providing links to those products.  Mr. Wedmore has done some of this himself.

3.  Sponsorships.  If you already have a successful channel, you might want to do some product placement in your videos.

4.  Lead Generation.  If people are watching your video, they may be interested in your product or service.  Mr. Wedmore discusses how to get contact information from the viewers for later follow-up.

IBM Smarter Commerce Helps Chief Marketing Officers Engage the Individual on Mobile and Social Media Channels

Press release:

IBM Smarter Commerce Helps Chief Marketing Officers Engage the Individual on Mobile and Social Media Channels

New Software and Services Enable Marketers to Deliver a Personalized Digital Customer Experience
MADRID - 22 May 2012: At the Smarter Commerce Global Summit, IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced new software and services to help chief marketing officers (CMO) deliver personalized digital experiences to individual customers on mobile devices and social media channels.
The growing focus on delivering personalized communications to consumers is being driven by the explosion of social media and mobile devices. Today, more than 1500 social media blog posts are generated every 60 seconds1 and mobile commerce is poised reach $200 billion by 20152.
Building on this digital explosion, IBM is accelerating its Smarter Commerce initiative with new software and services that help marketers gain immediate intelligence on consumer shopping trends and quickly act on that information based on customer preference through marketing and promotion activities.
For example, while one consumer may browse for merchandise from their mobile device that same consumer may tend to make more purchases from their tablet. Gaining the ability to act on this information will allow marketers to be more competitive while improving the customer experience.
Today, more than 2,500 customers worldwide, including 21 of the top 27 retailers are moving toward Smarter Commerce. IBM Smarter Commerce initiative delivers software and services that help companies, such as TalkTalk, Blue Chip Holiday and Roca Group, transform their business processes to meet the unique demands of each individual customer in today's digital marketplace.
With the mobile devices expected to exceed desktop internet usage by 2014, IBM is introducing new software that gives businesses the ability to capture a customer’s device type and analyze how they are responding to campaigns on each. For example, a marketer may learn that a customer ignores messages on their smartphone but clicks through on campaigns when using their tablet. With this insight, marketers can develop, market and execute personalized digital campaigns that cater to a specific customer’s mobile and tablet experience.
The importance of personalizing the customer experience across channels was recently addressed by Kiddicare, the largest online nursery and baby supplier in the UK. Kiddicare was looking to deliver more relevant, interactive dialogues across digital, social, mobile and traditional marketing channels in order better serve its loyal customers.
“IBM’s Smarter Commerce initiative is playing a significant role in helping our team gain better insights into our customers so we can more effectively meet each person’s needs and driverepeat purchases,” said Simon Harrow, technology officer at Kiddicare. “With IBM we are now able to analyze customer buying patterns including what devices they are using and then deliver highly relevant, interactive dialogues to each. Through these insights we have been able to drive a 20 percent increase in online sales over a period of just four months.”
For companies looking to capitalize on the business potential of mobile devices, IBM Global Business Services is introducing a new Mobile Strategy Accelerator to help companies adopt and build a roadmap to build stronger customer relationships through mobile devices. Companies can also leverage IBM WebSphere Commerce tools to quickly launch a mobile storefront that can be easily customized to their company. Once their storefront is live, these businesses can deliver customers a personalized site experience across smartphones and tablets.
“We are living in the mobile and social age, where consumers are turning to friends for product advice and their smartphone and tablet to make purchases,” said Craig Hayman, general manager, IBM Industry Solutions. “As this momentum continues CMOs must trade in more traditional tactics in favor of smarter approaches that extend their personalization capabilities beyond the PC. It is this ability to deliver relevant deals across multiple channels that will transform these marketing efforts from an unwanted intrusion into a valued service.”
In addition to mobile, IBM also continues to address the needs of businesses looking to accelerate their social media efforts. According to IBM's CEO study announced today, 57 percent of CEOs are looking to use these platforms to connect with individuals within the next three to five years.
Through new features announced today, product marketers can balance current customer information with data from their public social media profile, such as their location and product interests. With this added insight, the team can create highly relevant promotions and deals and then post these on the recipient’s Facebook wall or forward directly through Twitter.

IBM Accelerates Business from Supply to Demand with New Cloud Offerings For Smarter Commerce

Press release:

IBM Accelerates Business from Supply to Demand with New Cloud Offerings For Smarter Commerce

IBM Commerce on Cloud; First Enterprise e-Commerce Offering to Boost Marketing, Sales, Customer Service
MADRID - 22 May 2012: At the Smarter Commerce Global Summit, IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced new software designed to improve data sharing and automate complex marketing and supply chain processes in the cloud. As a result, marketers can improve customer service, increase marketing effectiveness and reduce operational costs.
The new offerings leverage IBM’s Cloud expertise and cloud collaboration networks to accelerate the flow of business-to-consumer transactions by automating and synchronizing supply and demand engines. IBM manages massive amounts of data and client transactions in cloud environments, including more than $100 billion in commerce transactions a year and 4.5 million daily client transactions.
Building on these extensive capabilities, IBM is introducing IBM Commerce on Cloud, the industry’s first integrated enterprise class e-commerce solution in the cloud that spans marketing, selling and fulfillment. Designed to help chief marketing officers (CMOs) and e-commerce executives quickly set up and maintain an on-line storefront, it also helps companies of all sizes deploy the same customer digital buying experience as the most advanced retail brands in the world.
IBM Commerce on Cloud is an integrated platform for generating customer interest and then offering, selling, transacting and fulfilling orders in the cloud. It offers companies the benefits of cloud economies, such as low up front capital investment, pay-for-use models, and instant and ongoing scalability, to businesses of all sizes. While purchase motivations are different for B2B and B2C companies, their sales and marketing programs are becoming virtually identical.
“Accelerating commerce on the Cloud is a dramatic step forward in enabling companies to transform their business operations,” said Craig Hayman, general manager, IBM Industry Solutions. “Companies of all sizes can now deliver a better client experience by providing personalized marketing, selling the way customers want to buy, and delivering products through a supply chain that’s prepared for the unpredictable.”
Smarter Commerce helps organizations that are struggling to meet the rising consumer demands brought upon by rapidly changing digital marketplace, automate their buying, marketing, selling and service processes.
In addition to IBM Commerce on Cloud, IBM also has enhanced several of its on-cloud collaboration networks to accelerate collaboration and digital information sharing across demand and supply processes to offset the unpredictable nature of commerce.
To improve retailer-consumer packaged goods collaboration and execution, IBM is introducing new pricing and trade promotion collaboration capabilities for DemandTec. This will allow a network of more than 15,000 members such as ConAgra Foods and PETCO to share information to improve merchandising and marketing plans, enabling better sales forecasts, lowering process inefficiencies and costs.
To help companies more effectively collaborate on marketing activities, IBM is offering a new certified Digital Data Exchange Partner program which allows marketers to more effectively manage their marketing, promotions and customer behavioral analytics. Marketers can gain an integrated view of information being developed across ad networks, survey vendors, testing vendors, and email service providers to gain insights and better execute their marketing programs and services. The exchange also includes a “gold tag” approach designed to ensure that analytics and marketing partners are all operating off of the same, relevant data.
With the Digital Data Exchange partner program, IBM is allowing retailers and third party digital marketing providers to relay behavioral data to analyze and enhance specific processes and improve the customer experience. The program supports new categories for visitor experience management, digital marketing, retargeting, voice of the consumer surveys and search marketing. For example, a major financial services firm could extend their digital marketing ecosystem of tools and solutions within minutes instead of days or weeks by adding online surveys to better understand their site visitors or their retargeting capabilities for a second chance at converting prospects, among other benefits.
To expedite supply chain processes, IBM is making it easier and faster to access, share and process information in real time, especially in emerging markets where growth rates are highest. IBM B2B Cloud Services is currently available across a community of 300,000 trading entities and more than 90 public and private networks, is now available in 34 new countries, including Australia, Brazil, India, New Zealand and all the Central and Eastern European countries.
Stronger supply chain collaboration brings a host of benefits. Via a secure connections to IBM B2B Cloud Services, Lenovo built a unified foundation to connect and collaborate with a broad ecosystem of customers and partners. This capability enabled the company to cut annual costs by improving freight and inventory management, reduce time to onboard a partner and increase visibility into complex supply chain relationships.
